Abstract:

Immanants serve as natural generalizations of determinants and permanants. Haiman revealed a deep connection between immanant inequality of Jacobi-Trudi matrices (the original form of the Stanley--Stembridge conjecture) and Hecke algebra characters using the Kazhdan-Lusztig theory. We will explain this relation and finish our discussion with Haiman’s conjecture, which implies the Shareshian--Wachs conjecture and, consequently, the Stanley-Stembridge conjecture.
