Abstract:

Let Z_n be the additive group of residue classes modulo n. For any positive integers m and n, let s(m, n) and c(m, n) denote the number of subgroups and the number of cyclic subgroups of the group Z_m×Z_n, respectively. The asymptotic formulas of the sums ∑_{m, n≤x} s(m, n) and ∑_{m, n≤x} c(m, n) have been studied by several authors. In this talk I will report some sharper asymptotic results for these sums. I will also report the mean value results of the corresponding error terms.
